Q on connecting to Live using ISDN

Hi

my mate has an ISDN connection where the phone line goes into a ISDN box and then that box hooks up to the computer via a USB port.

Is it possible to use Xbox live using Xp's sharing thing (ICS)??

I presume, he'd need to hook his xbox to his PC with the Ethernet card right?

yep all correct - this is how anyone without a router connects to the internet for live. not sure how good it will be on ISDN though.

I connect this way too but i use two LAN cards, rather than via ISDN. Would connecting via the USB cause much slowdown? i hear USBs for broadband connections are usually a no no!?!

He is upgrading to a 1mg line so that should be enough eh?

as long as its usb 2 - there should be no issue as even a 1mb line is only approx 120 k/s were as USB 2 is much much quick 480 Mbits

to be honest usb 1 is 1500 k/ sec so there is no issue with networking this way - but Its not somthing I have done so I am not speaking from experience - there way be overhead I am not aware of so make it usb 2 if possible to be sure.
