Question MS Windows 2000 Networking Question

Is there a way of tracking a user who may have previously went onto someone's machine over the network and copied files off it?

I have a customer who is worried this may have happened and wants me to find out if someone has.

The auditing policies have not been set up on this machine so i cant find out that way.....

I don't have access to the domain server as this is to be done on the quiet as it is highly sensitive information that may have been accessed.

    Help me out pleeeeeeeeease!:|

Will there be anything in 'event viewer' on his pc, may show the connection from another machine?

Without auditing, not sure if you can mate, but may be an idea to find out what and where the files concerned are and click on them in explorer, it will give last access time/date. may help if they haven't been opened by your mate since though.

Browse the suspect users profile (which would have been created if he logged in to the machine as you say) on the target machine and just look in the recent folder.
