Need a broke/faulty xbox.

hey guys, i just posted in the BST just thougth id stick a note here cos BST can be easily over looked.

if you have seen the inside of a PC, which i assume you have as your an IT bod, you have really seen the inside of an xbox. Honestly there is nothing special in there.

You open it up and on one side you have a support bracket for the cd rom, and the other side one for the HDD. You unscrew various screws, which keep the the supports attached to the base, and the motherboard is underneath. Depending on model etc there may be a slightly diff layout for fans and heatsinks. That is all, unless someone is willing to give you an xbox i wouldnt bother paying for one to open up just to see what is inside.

if you mod a non working xbox how will you test if the mod has worked? you can also get non solder mods and softmod so if soldering was your main concern it doesnt have to be

i want to SEE the internals, SIZE of solder points, time it takes to get a good join, if i can successfully put the points together with wires.

then i will do a proper mod.

key word is practise.

i DONT NOT want to power it at all.

i DONT NOT even want a full xbox.

i ONLY want to get me hands on a physical xbox circuit board.

Its not a pointless excerise cos i wouldnt be doing it otherwise.

I WANT to explore the insides of an xbox, with no chance of fucking it, hence a broke one being ideal - end of story.

The solder aspect is me to see how long it takes to join the needed points successfully.

Im no solder genius so mearly just something to experiment on.

I did my box on my own with no previous experience of soldering. The instructions to be found are as clear as day. Be brave, jump in. Just read the instructions twice. You will be amazed how simple it is. Just a bit of common sense and care are required.

yeh loads of people said its easy mate and i read the tutorials, just wanna test one first for me own peace of mind before im owing someone an xbox. :whistle

If you have, open it up and have a good look and see if you feel confident with it. You would have to be REALLY careless to do any damage by simply opening your box up and having a snoop. There are detailed instructions to open up aswell.
