    Default 6230 security code

I've read a couple of threads but I've never seen a definitive answer.

I've got a friend whos Nokia 6230 is asking for the security code, its not 12345 , 54321 etc.
it asks for the code when the phone is switched on, even without a sim card in

is there a way to view this code without flashing the phone ?
ie. with software and data cable

as she doesnt want to lose all her contacts from the phone.

    any help appreciated.

    cheers

The default security number is 1,2,3,4,5. Someone must have changed it m8, but the number can be reset to the default, but not with just the cable and sw. To do this you need something like the Griffin/Twister/UFS etc etc, or there are clips that can reset the number.

    cheers guys.

do you know if using clips/griffins etc requires the phone to be flashed/reset or can it just get/reset the code without wiping the phone clean ?

shadowdancer, if you haven't got the cable, you can leave the phone on for a couple of hours, on where you input the pin and it will reset to 12345

this happened to me when i first brought the phone, a year ago.

This is a very slap dash method of doing things and is NOT guarenteed to work.

It is known to work on some handsets but not others, and even some models of handsets said to work still dont reset.

I think im right in saying we dont actually know the reasons to this, or how to identify a handset that will.

I got it to work on a 7210.

    what ya think guys? :nowords:

sounds interesting and worth a bash, I dont think she will mind leaving the phone on for a couple of hours.
I'll let you know how she gets on with that

she has now got her phone unlocked again.
i asked her to try leaving the phone at the security code screen for a while, so she left it overnight and tried 12345 in the morning but that didnt work so she tried her own security code again and it worked this time.
maybe its possible that the phone will not accept any security code if its been tried often and then leaving it on the security screen for a while resets it so you can enter your code again?

anyway, its working now and she is delighted to have her numbers back, cheers guys
