    Default On-line car tax?

That time of year again, car tax due!!!

Opened the letter as I thought i'd best get it today with it expiring tomorrow and it came with a letter advising it can all be done on line!
My car is only 1 year old so I dont need an MOT, but new MOT system's are in place which means it is all stored electronically.

So I goto the website http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ , asks me for my ref number, it then checks my insurance and MOT situation on line. Once all confirmed asks me for payment (debit card only) and now my car disc will be sent in the post

Took 5 mins as oppose to 45 mins stood in a queue in the Post office Fantastic!! Not only that it was a nice surprise to find that my tax for the year on a 1.5 diesel car is only £85 :tongue

The online service is good. I got mine a couple of months ago. Took 2 days to arrive. Superb, except for the £125

I'm starting to really hate car tax... well a lot more than I used to hate it

I own 2 cars, one main car, one for fun (not practicle (sp)) both over 1549cc and both £170 a go :grr:

What makes it really annoying is the fun car is 31 years old, but still not old enough to qualify for free tax.

And I don't drive to or for work.

The day they bring in a different system, either pay per a mile or add it to fuel (I Know there's to much tax there already) the better for people like me. :thumbs
