Hope someone can help

A friend is going to pakistan and is taking his uk o2 mobile with him, whats the cheapest way for us to stay in contact.... 02 will charge a pound a min or more.... but i've heard of other companies which let u dial a local rate or freephone number then dial the international number.

anyone got any tips?

Not sure about O2

The way orange charge is the cost of the call that he makes.

They also charge for you to receive the calls ont he mobile, so if you phone him you get the charge of making a call to a local mobile and then he gets charged for receiving the call on the foreign network

So it works out cheaper for him to phone you as only 1 person is paying. get him to give O2 a call and see wht their international call are charged at. I know orange gave me £5 woth of calls free when I registered for roaming.

If his phone is unlocked, he should get a sim from a local company and use that while he is there, it wont cost him anything to receive calls. And people can call him by using 0911 927 0013 then his number, for 13p/minute. Not really cheap but much cheaper than receiving calls on an Orange phone abroad.
