    Info The Island

Went to see this yesterday with the misses and we were both very impressed. Good sci-fi movie with nice special effects and a solid story. As per usual Sean Bean plays the bad English guy (but you all knew that already)

I was reading in the Guardian on the plane that this film is actually a total rip off of a cult classic. They are taking the makers to court over it. LOL. Its meant to be virtually identical.

just back from seeing it. it was very enjoyable.. held my attention, and other than them surviving seemingly impossible injuries every few mins it was a great effects extravaganza. nice portrayal of the future too.

Saw this last night and thought it was pure shite. Too many cheesy jokes, nothing original to be seen, and so so many inconsistencies.

Scarlett johansons acting was shit. Too many adverts were crammed into the film, when they zoomed in on the bottle of michelobe ultra for example. The special force that was tracking them down in the real world were a joke, the african boss guys voice really pissed me off by the end of the film.

The portrayal of the future was terrible, all the cars look the same as they do at present. The film was so predictable throughout and it was about 30 minutes too long. It was like a 2 hour episode of the outer limits.

    Spoiler:

When the clone of ewan puts the bracelet on the original ewan how the fcuk does the black guy not see it when hes got his gun and beady eyes focued firmly on both of them ffs. :grr:

How the fuck did they both survive when the armoured vehicle smashed the police car they were in into two halves?

How did anyone hit over the head with a wrench or crowbar survive like they just bumped their head?

Another shit film to add to the shit films of 2005 and there are plenty of them. 1/10 (The 1 is for the nice choo choo train and steve buscemi)

Yeah 2019, the cars look exactly like that of the present though, just a bit chunkier.

you mean, just like how todays new cars look like chunky versions of cars that were about 15 years ago...?

no, what I mean is that the cars in the film are exactly the same design and styling of cars of today. The only things that looked like they were from the future was the train and the mack truck.

dont think things will change that much in 15 years m8. same as things aint changed much from 15 years ago. i think they were trying to keep that feel of a "not to distant future". so the cars were still similar to now rather than some "demolition man" type vision.

Right but the thing is there was a jet powered bike and a hovering train so they've got it 100% wrong at one end of the scale, either by making some vehicles too much like vehicles of the present or by making some look too advanced for vehicles of 2019.

i think they went for the right mix of current tech and new tech.

we already have hovering trains tho, so thats nothing new. so the bike was the only thing that was kinda out of place. even the caddy they were driving wasnt modern, its a concept car and he said it was an 09 model, which i guess will be about right by the time its in production.

ok so they got it wrong with the jet bike then. What about the cop cars? theres nothing about them that looks futuristic 10 years from now.
