saw the advert for this on centr pages of the sun the other day...was blown away although apparently i live in a big blur the size of BOlton
How does it work? New York is in great detail but if I try to look in on London it's very low res. Do I need to leave it zoomed in for a while to see higher detail?
p.s. I tried worldwind a while back but I kept getting problems with their streaming.
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...
you can do that on google maps too. they even have 3d building models in some places. eg newyork and most of americas major cities..Originally Posted by Keva
hopefully they will do it for uk too eventually.
on world wind you can do it anywhereOriginally Posted by marcode
um.. ye.. on google maps too..Originally Posted by Keva
or do you mean it can produce 3d rendered buildings of ANY location in the world? which i doubt.
i was just about to download the old nasa thing to try it out, but at 180 megs, i dont think ill bother.

Ive used both and was a fan of NASA WW before i tried google maps. Now i have uninstalled NASA WW
not unless you intend to use any of the extra features. which is unlikely... i havent touched em..Originally Posted by {{909}}
sweet i never new that about the buildings in 3D ww does the land so you can see valleys etc and yes i have got google earth on my hard drive but only skimmed through it btw {{909}} try getting the uraban addon i cant remember the exact name but it adds a higher level of detail to most areasOriginally Posted by marcode
google maps has the terrain modelling too. which is very cool in a dipped viewing angle.

Alot of other cool addons on there ... i just spotted one that gives you real time earth quake information
i think you should check out google earth m8, it does everything your talking about, and much more all the way to crap like crime stats (and earthquakes, volcanoes, geographic features of interest, current events, landmarks etc)... including stuff like hotels restraunts road maps etc. its all built in... without the need for addons
and it does it a lot better, with more detailed map imagry.
world wind is pretty old.
ok m8 will check out google earth a bit more as i said ive only previosly skimmed through itOriginally Posted by marcode
