How does it work? New York is in great detail but if I try to look in on London it's very low res. Do I need to leave it zoomed in for a while to see higher detail?

p.s. I tried worldwind a while back but I kept getting problems with their streaming.

some areas are mapped in greater detail than others, if you check the official site it tells u when updates are made, places like tokyo and mexico are very clear

you can do that on google maps too. they even have 3d building models in some places. eg newyork and most of americas major cities..

hopefully they will do it for uk too eventually.

i think you should check out google earth m8, it does everything your talking about, and much more all the way to crap like crime stats (and earthquakes, volcanoes, geographic features of interest, current events, landmarks etc)... including stuff like hotels restraunts road maps etc. its all built in... without the need for addons

and it does it a lot better, with more detailed map imagry.

    world wind is pretty old.
