Sound card help

hello i have just reformatted my laptop and i cannot play any music or video. when i go into control panel and look at the hardware it shows some audio hardware is without having a driver installed so it isnt working how can i find out the company name of the sound card so i can get the correct driver thanks....... if its any help the laptop is a e machine...:nowords:

XP would normally find drivers for your sound card. if your not using XP try looking on the web site of the manufacturer as they will normally have driver support for their products, if not support then they should at least tell you which soundcard it is.

I had trouble with a Desktop e-machine, i contacted them, sent through a few things (all be e-mail so took a wee while) but eventually got it sorted.

I was pointed to a site that had nothign to do with e-machines in the end (for the drivers) it was a few motnhs back, i have not kept any details, but was pleased when it was just the one person liasing with me.

Give it a go, i was happy on the customer service.

Whats the model number of the lappy?

Check http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html for drivers.

Also they have Live Chat support near the bottom of that page if you get stuck
