Starting your own Bar/pub off?

Does anybody have there own bar/pub or know of anyone who has bought a building and done one from scratch?

i would really like to have my own pub or club, but i would always be fairly drunk or incapple of driving.

sounds like a great job but the business side is also important, not just boozing and bird watching

If you're serious, go and work in one first, anyone can drink in one, and you and The Ormskirk chaps seem to do a fair portion of that, so you already know what the customers want. All you need do is go and experience the ups & downs at someone elses expense. Try and get a managerial position in a pub for a few years, at least then you have the backing of the brewery if it all goes boss eyed.

Years ago one of my uncles had a big boozer in S.E. London, totally f*cked it up, closed down in 3 years. Giving out free drinks, getting p*ssed the whole time, staff dipping in the till...you get the picture. There's so many people who do this without getting any proper experience of the business side of bars/pubs/restaurants.
