i upgrades from 2mb to 4 mb in november when the cost came down for free
Telewest should still keep its customers better informed, I mean I love my 4mb cable link, but for over 5 months now I have been told that I would soon have 10mb link in Devon... If you phone up customers services and say about link - they told me - you already have 10mb, when in fact the area I am in has not been upgraded.. I know working in IT that things take time, but how long does it take to keep customers informed, instead of no date announced yet ...
Come on Telewest sort it out ... let people know just want is going on,..
looks like i cried it in yesterday says end of jan on the site but i got 10 meg between yesterday afternoon and today...
The devils at TW have removed the speed upgrade option from the self care pages. Obviously too many people trying the 2mb to 4mb interim upgrade.
If TW won't let you upgrade to 4mb now, it suggests they are already struggling to offer the improved bandwidth.
Have TW bitten off more than they can chew ?
Just been told this from TW
So another 6 weeks or so & we should all be sorted.I am unable to confirm a definitive date when the new speeds will be
available at your address. However with the upgrade to the network
running on schedule the speeds will be available nationally by 28
February 2006.
Ring them up mate and tell them to upgrade you. It took me a few goes to upgrade, each customer service person told me a different thing. I was finally assured that I will be able to upgrade via the selfcare pages (even though it said it was £50 at the time). My sister on the other hand, rang TW up and they upgraded her there and then no problem.Originally Posted by Tecpos
Thanks dannyboy.
I have had a reply from TW Web team who say I can have my connection upgraded to 4mb in the mean time. Just waiting for it to kick in now.
got the upgrade in knowsley today to the 10 meg but the speed is fluctuating badly from 7 meg up to 9 meg but i seem to be averageing a download of 780Kbs. ill give it a few days to sort its self out then ill give them a ring and see what they say.
bb
seem to have it, like bbshark sed but i from 400-1000k/s
what about us Devon folk
not me .. as I have Sky, due to the fact that when I had TV via cable BBC 1 kept freezing .... and you had to turn box off and wait a few minutes for the channel to reload.. Mum has TV via cable though, so will have to look at this Teleport music ... Teleport for TV on her box works well... wonder if sky are going to do something ??? Anyway back on thread, hopefully speed increase to 10mb will happen soonish..
Thanks for heads up on teleport music..
Drogo

Just rang TW & got speed upgraded from 2mb to 4mb no questions. No extra cost & upgraded in 20 mins.
At least they got that bit right.
I also got them to price match with bulldog (£30) for 2mb, but that was some time back
So now i got 4mb for £30, hope it stays like that for 10mb
well has a update to 10 meg speed here, when doing a speed test i cant seem to get faster than 7 meg. i also use giganews news server and wasnt hitting more than 7 meg. but then i changed to giganews european server and i am getting 1180Kbs. but every speed test is still only between 6 and 7 meg.
suits me because i use newsgroups to get my downloads anyway but i might call them about the fact im not getting 10 megs on the normal downloading.
mines sorted
was using newsleecher, had 4 connections open, now have 15 connections open and im downloading at 1158kb/sec, and didnt even have to ring em and do any

Freaky, which news provider are you with that allows 15 connections. Be careful as you may get a warning from them soon if you dont lower it to what it should be. If its Blueyonder, I dont think they check or give a damn.
im with nthell and use a Set top box as my modem, its a samsung one and we got a letter saying that if we wanted 10mb then we would have to pay extra £50 for a new set top box that will support 10mb, the samsung one only supports 5mb, so we have a 10mb line but only can use 5mb due to our box being a samsung!!
anyone know if i can do away with the samsung box and if i was to get a cable modem would this still work? or am i tied to the set top box a modem?
got nothing yet here in walsall was upghraded to teleport 2 months ago
