    Default Welcome

Due to popular demand we have a sub section for all sat nav related stuff.

So, discuss away, I rate the Tomtom myself, love it to bits.

Welcome indeed, I've got tomtom on my m1000 and my 6680 - why I need both I don't know, but it's brilliant. T'other half very rarely holds the map the right way up!!

(apart from the time it took us to the wrong side of Turin airport when we were running really late for a plane :whistle - I suspect it may have planespotter tendencies)

well when i say bugs - its tends to drop the signal and you cant change the prefered road speeds

so on some trips you get there quicker than what it says

also you cant have it on without guidence like you can in tom tom 3

i have nerver tried to change the prefered speeds but i have my unit mounted on my instructing bike and never have a route loaded, it just shows me where i am and where the roads around me lead to. very handy if a pupil takes a wrong turn!!

and checkpoint lets me know where the cameras and total petrol stations are.

i have a holux CF gps card and it is really sensitive, it very rarely looses signal on my bike.
it does take over a minute to get a fix when i'm in the car though.

TT3 is better for tweaking how you like, they removed most of the customisation stuff out of TT5 to make it user friendly for wrinklies and the like cos their support department was having a hard time teaching people what a PDA was before they got to the techy issues with TT3

glad of the new section cheers

i just remembered another little niggle in normal mode you cant see the addy properly because of the size of the prefixed font - but if you put the tom tom in landscape mode then you can
