Half Life 2 cd key

Hi,
Is it possible to BUY just a cd key for HL2? I have the discs but no cd key, so rather than going out and buying the full set of discs again with a key, I was hoping maybe that you could just buy a subscription or something?

I think u can buy it online and then download it through steam, not sure how you get the key tho.

hl2 doesnt use cd keys, you have to validate your copy on steam, or buy it on steam

I bought though steam got the gold package. Does anyone know if i should have got the game on dvd or disc cos i never did and if i have to reinstall i have download the game again ?????????

if you bought it on steam you just download it again and it works with your account, you can back up your copy of hl2 on steam by right clicking a game on the games list and selecting backup game files to burn it to either a dvd or several CDs... need anything else?
