Well i have just entered into the world of wifi and i am sending this message via someone's belkin wireless adaptor. I was just wondering if this liberty i am taking is a one way street? Because we are using a wireless connection what is stopping him/her accessing my information from this laptop? How can i protect myself so nobody can track down this machine?


Weird question but i thought i'd ask it.

Other than security s/w you have on your machine and depending on how they have the router config'd, you should be ok.... techincally not morally

Although the will have record of your MAC address

you can swap your mac by changing the registry ... the key is somewhere in hklm/currentcontrolset but cant remember where offhand lol

Unless you live next door to an ub3r l33t haxx0r then I would not worry to much mate. Providing you do not share your drives then there is little to worry about.
But if he is a l33t haxx0r, beware.
