    Help Hd Lcd Tv

Hi there i am completely new to HD tv's and and deciding if i should get 1 or not.

I am thinking on the Samsung 26" LCD TV LE26R41BDX from Robertsons-Online.co.uk
It is a reasonable £628 with free delivery. also has freeview built into it so no need for a digital box.

Is it worth me getting this TV or should i stick to a normal LCD TV (cant afford Plasma and need it wall mounted) Also dont want one over 28" so 26" is great.

Finally will the TV work the same as an ol LCD TV; i.e. staright connection of Coax cable from roof aerial to TV? or do i need any special type of coax?

    Thanks

Just be careful when buying a HD TV. Make sure you do your rearch.

HD Ready just donates that the vertical resolution is going to contain 720 vertical lines (e.g. 1280*720 being a HD resolution) it DOES NOT dictate what the horizontal resolution should be, e.g some HDTV source material is being broadcast at 1920*1080.

Unfortunatly most televisions being sold at the moment in the UK are only really capable of outputing 720p. Pretty crap if you buy an xbox 360 which can do 1080i, and further 1080p for the future generation of consoles.

My advice is to wait for a set that can output 1080i, i don't belive they are too far away.

Do your research properly, otherwise the likes of Curries etc will flog you a set that won't be any good past a few years.

If you're getting it for use with sky, or at least want some future proofing make sure it has the following specs :

Min native resolution of 720 lines in wide aspect ratio
Capable of receiving high def pics by dvi (with hdcp) or hdmi (with hdcp) with an analogue component connection
Must be capable of displaying 1080i/25 and 720p/50

    http://hd.sky.com/default.aspx?id=4&pg=2

Personally I'd go for something with 1080 lines native.

Looking at the samsung, it should be ok - looks like it can take a whole range of connections including normal RF (which will be into the digital tuner I guess)

Personally after hearing one of the devs who are producing dead or alive 4 for the xbox 360 slagging off the quality of current HD lcd tv's, i think i'll wait and see what the new 1080i sets are like.

    Digital Light Processing.

fukin stunnin picture when fed HD material. Have a look for DLP projectors also.

In about 5 years plasma, lcd and dlp tv's will be all playing second fiddle to L.E.D flat screens but for now DLP is kickin arse

looking at pricerunner, you won't come close to one, but they are all 40+"

(you can also get your tv cheaper : http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/sound-a.../350606/prices)
