    Default Messed up CD install

I'm having a lot of problems installing a cd player in to my Fiat Uno. I hope this is the right place for this thread.

A while ago I bought a 2nd hand cd player, and had it fitted by someone. It all seemed fine, until I noticed it was cutting out over any minor bump in the road. Anyway, the cd player was really cheap and nasty, and with it being 2nd hand decided to get rid. I bought a new one, a Kenwood KDC-W4031, which was on offer.

I read up on installing and thought I'd have a crack at doing it myself. I managed to get the old mounting bracket and put the new one in, connected up etc and it worked. But, as soon as the car was moving it would cut out, and would not turn back on until the car was stationary. The weird thing is this happens even on the radio ? :| I don't understnad that as surely there are no moving parts, it works perfect while the car is not moving, but just switched straight off as soon as I drive the car.

I've since installed some speakers in the back (I've tested and they work) so I really want to get this fixed, is there anything obvious I might have done wrong, bearing in mind this is my first attempt.

I am missing the plastic rim which goes around the fascia to keep it secure, but as I understand this shouldn't have such a great affect that it switches off whenever the car moves. It also doesn't explain why it turns off when just the radio is on. The only thing I can think off is loose connections but I've checked and they seem fine.

The first thing that springs to mind is that you've wired the +12v cable onto a feed that intentionally drops when in motion.

On my car (not a Fiat) there are a couple of cables that become inactive once the car is rolling. The automatic door locker becomes disengaged (to prevent unlocking inflight) is one of them.

Just a thought, as I'm not a car expert.

You might try asking on www.fiatforum.com M8, they have a section for Uno's on there

That seems like a possibility Shambles, but I don't have a clue how to check.

I'm going to check out the forum Pongo mentioned (cheers for that mate, nice link) I'm sure someone in there will have a good idea where the problem might be.

Just post in the ICE section there, I use ff.com alot and its really good.

Going from fiats after owning a few, they dont have any motion switched lives.

Could be an earthing along the way as when the car moves its disloding a connection.

fiat unos arent very good with electrics, from what i remember some had fuse box problems.
Try to get a 12+ feed from the battery (fused of course) and try your radio, since fiats dont have a ignition live feed remember to connect both + and acc wires of your radio together.

Try moving the keys around a bit in the ignition and see if it does it..? Mine was doin the same (and has just fuckin stated again - pile of shit at garage!) and it was the ignition switch that was fucked.
