Outlook Problem

I've got outlook installed, the version that came with Office XP, however whenever i open up outlook it opens but microsoft word also opens with no document open, how can i stop word opening, ive never seem this problem before.

Tools > Options > Mail Format untick the box that says to use Word to start/read messages
