Put Great-Britain-Map folder and all its contents in the root of your storage card, tomtom should auto find it if its the only map you have installed and if its not you should be able to select it in 'change map'
ok thanks. dont have a storage card that come with my ipaq, so ill have to get a 12mb mmc correct? Also was looking at the gps pda reciever in one of the other posts that someone recommended on ebay, but the item is no longer for sale. im not too sure what i should be looking for really...
you will need about 100MB space for gb map
if your pda has bluetooth get a bluetooth device. If not you can use a serial cable to connect to much cheaper cabled gpss
wheres the change map option on the ipaq??
in tom tom navi 5 its change prefs then page forward with the arrow and hit switch map
um i run tomtom 5 and it asks for language, right hand left hand drive, speed then voice (female) then the next screen is maps and it says download or cancel. download tries to attempt to connect to tomtom?! thanks
then you dont have it installed or in the right place, do you have the Great-Britain-Map folder and all of its contents, in the root of a storage card ?
No i dont have a storage card yet. i just installed the app via usb to the ipaq, and thought i would be able to get to the option to change map just to see how far i can get to make sure im doing it right. so are you saying once i put the GB map onto an mmc, put it in the ipaq, and go through the steps again (language, time, speech etc) and when i get to the last bit - no maps found, it will detect the one on the mmc?
sounds like your trying to install the GB map into the version of tomtom supplied on an IPAQ 6515? if so, it doesnt work...you will have to install TT5 on a memory card.
he says he has the bakoni release which is the version i run
yeah but im guessin he is trying to load the GB map from that on his IPAQ 6515...i could be wrong but when he mentioned about it wanting to download the map....thats what the 6515 does.
Dalboy - From what I have read above I think you need to buy a memory card at least 128meg (pref 256 or 512 or 1gig)
Using active sync - copy 'Great-Britain-Map' folder and all of its contents to the storage card of the Ipaq.
You may need to do another install of the tomtom setup on the ipaq.
You will also need a bluetooth GPS receiver to get the signals from the satellites - I have no idea how to set up an Ipaq to work with a bluetooth GPS, but I'm sure there are plenty of people on here willing to share their knowledge.

What if the Hokey Cokey "IS" what it's all about?
ok guys thanks a lot. i have a rz1710 btw. ill get a 128 first and let you know, thanks again
