Laptop problem

I have a compaq pressario 2100 laptop,after about 1 hrs use the touchpad turns itself off,I can't turn it back on until the laptop has been turned off a couple of hours,any ideas ?

sounds like maybe a bad solder joint when it heats up it separates, when it cools down it makes contact again, 2 soloutions, get the soldering iron our, or plur in ps2/usb mouse

Don't fancy the soldering option,looks like I need an external mouse,cheers
