Help Freeing up Windows XP product Key

Quick question which is probably very easy to sort out, but I am non tech and have not got a clue.

I have dismantled and old laptop, and need to "free up" my Windows XP home product key, so that I can use it on another system. Any one know how I can do this.

I have searched on the forums and not found anything. Any help on this matter would be highly appreciated.

From a legal standpoint, you cannot re-use the copy of XP that was on the laptop on another machine.

From a practical standpoint, there is nothing to stop you simply re-installing the version of XP that came with the lappy (providing it isn't tied to the machine) and simply re-activating.

if you need to remove the sticker from a plastic laptop base get a stanley knife, the kind you can change the blade so its really long, Heat the knife with a lighter and slip it under one end. Once you can pull the sticker heat the knife again and put it at the point of where the sticker is coming away from the laptop which will make it easyer to remove.

Yep, all laptops with Windows pre-installed are OEM products... They live and die with the laptop as with all microsoft products.
