Default I got me a new scanner but...

I got me a UNIDEN BEARCAT UBC-92XLT, nice looking small scanner, and i got it at a good price too...

I manage to recieve most things, but would like to increase my signal...

I assume adding an external ariel would work?

Would i get away with something in my loft? cant see her in doors going for anything being put up on the side of the house.

    Any suggestions greatly app...

An external antenna would definately improve reception and help pull in signals from further away.

The best type of antenna for a scanner is a discone antenna, here's a few examples

Here's a desktop one, could be put in a loft though

Here's a full size discone, definately for in the loft or mounted at the highest point on the outside of the house

Mounting one of these in the loft and running a cable through the ceiling into your room would be ideal

Know what you mean about the mrs not wanting something on the outside of the house though lol when i was living with my parents i had a 21ft tall CB antenna mounted on the fence, bit of an eyesore really lol

The last one i showed you is pretty much the ultimate discone antenna as far as im aware. There are a few cheaper ones, not sure how they compare to that one though. Buy whatever you can afford, whatever you buy it'll be an improvement over the little rubber antenna you get with the scanner.

Here's the same one as i showed you last time, £10 cheaper though.

Putting it in the loft would definately be the best idea if it cant go outside, get it as high up as you can in the loft and you'll be fine, even just sitting it in the loft would make a big difference.
