Im an Air Conditioning engineer by trade, but my boss has just informed me that the traditional lack of work in the winter is real bad this year and hes gonna have to lay me off. (Im only sub-ing to him so he is well within his rights to do this)
anyways this is quite handyreally as im sick of Air Con installing and fancy a break from it for a year or so, and driving a van is probably all im capable of!!
Anyone know the best place to look for driving jobs?:nowords:
I need a job. A change in circumstances means I can no longer support myself doing 'the odd console' Was nice while it lasted and maybe I can do it again some day.
Anyway, this is me...
32 Year old Male
Around 7 GCSE at C and above - I forget exactly.
Started a major apprenticeship at 16 from school which included many formal and informal qualifications. The apprenticeship was completed in 1993 and I was taken on full time within the company (BT) My work place was a specialist satellite communications depot near Hereford, West Midlands.
I moved from my 4 year technical apprenticeship to the Electrical installation group and completed the relevant qualifications before becoming a fully qualified electrical designer and installer. We handled everything from tiny panel wiring to huge 300mm squared 4 core cable installations as a team. No job was too big or small and I travelled all over the country and the world to perform jobs. We did cable installations and satellite antenna control installations (antennas from 3 metre to 15 metre diameter) as a very specialised outfit. I was in this group approximately 5 years.
An opportunity arrived within the satellite maintenance area at the site, the skill group that deals directly with the faults and maintenance of the satellite transmission and reception. I moved onto this group handling electronic repair to component level of many many different types of equipment. Reading technical manuals and understanding circuit diagrams to pinpoint faults. An extremely wide variety of test equipment was used. I had jobs all over the world, usually assisting with satellite transmission system builds, all the way from baseband to rf, including the remote control systems, protocols, networking, scripting and management.
I have a very very good working knowledge of many computer systems, including Windows (all varieties), Linux (many distributions) and Mac OS, among others. I can find and fix faults on almost any piece of equipment.
I also took on responsibilities running our TV transmission centre - transmitting and receiving satellite TV signals on both permanent and ad-hoc services. This was a high pressure job which I absolutely loved.
In July 2003 I left the company to persue some new opportunities, and here i am
I attained the following qualifications during my extended apprenticeship.
BTEC 1st Certificate in Engineering
BTEC ONC Engineering / Electronics
BTEC HNC Engineering / Electronics (part credits)
City and Guilds 236 Electrical Installation Part 1 and 2 (16th edition)
Most of all I have 14 years experience within the electronics, IT, Engineering and Telecommunications industries.
Looking for something in West Midlands, Mid or south wales or anywhere, im no stranger to travelling.
Any tips, leads would be very much appreciated !!
