    Help Help with Clarion please.

    Hi,
Ok from reading the sticky I believe it won’t be as easy to decode my M8’s radio as I first thought :| The radio is a Clarion PU-9679A

I believe I’m correct in thinking that this is an eprom based radio so no decoding from the serial number :nono

So my next thought could I remove the eprom & read it with my Elvis programmer :nowords:

    Thanks for any help.

    TtT

Hi, no sorry your elvis dont do 93c46 eeproms (well it dident last time i looked) but there are plenty of cheap programmers on ebay if you want to do it yourself.

    Thanks for your help.

I firstly thought that the radio would be decode-able via the serial # but as I now know it’s an eeprom based radio so the info I need is in the chip (93c46).
I would remove the chip & read it if my programmer would do it but I’m not going to get involved buying a different programmer just to read 1 chip & to help my M8 out.

It will probably make more sense just to buy a cheap replacement radio.

    Thanks for your help tho.

    Cheers, TtT :thumbs

Probably cheaper to take it to a decoder should only be about £10/£15 to decode that one

I finally got the 93C46 read with some software that I found on the net… you don’t even need a programmer!… you just solder some wires to the legs of the chip & stick these wires into the correct holes in your LPT (Parallel) port.

Hope the zip file helps someone else find their radio code, good luck :thumbs

I found that the code read by the software above did not work when entered into the radio…. However when I reversed the code it DID work!!
EG: 1234 became 4321….So anyone using the software please bare this in mind.

    Regards, TtT.
