I do 4 sets of 6 reps currently. But trying to build it up. But i seem to have hit a brick wall. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now. Very frustrating!
Thats a good weight to be pushing especially at your age, just an idea but might be worth trying do 3 sets of 8 and then push what you can on the 4th set, that way your still getting your full 16 plus the extra on your last set...easier said than done i know.
Ive just pushed my bench up too 100kg 4 sets 8 reps, could probably do more weight with less reps but im still currently gaining at the mo so if it aint broke then dont fix it....well for now

Too right you said it. Cheers for the tip. I will definately give that a go in the gym see how i get on. I strive on tips from other bodybuilders I find that sometimes im doing completely the wrong thing and making no improvements.
@tom7471-you could try and drop down to 5x5 or 6x4 and get the weight up, then start to raise the reps again, and keep cycling like that when you 'peak' (not hitting a brick wall, that sounds much worse, look at it as a peak)
Thanks very much for the advice I will try that I just seem stuck whatever i am doing at the moment. Very frustrating
trust me, i know the feeling lol, but i managed to get the weight up by dropping the reps and increasing the sets and the intensity.
but 107 is a bloody impressive bench for a 58kg 19yo, i hope in a couple of years my bench is up there
height: 5 7"
Weight 80kg
age 17
normally do set of 90kg 6 reps then 85 then 80 all 6 reps, i can do 100kg but only 2 reps by myself
Hi im new
Height 6ft 2
Weight 90kg
Age 21
I bench 85kg for 8 reps for 4 sets on a normal bench but when im training my chest or any muscle for that matter i always vary the exercises throughout a workout starting with compound exercises like bench and dumb bell presses and then isolate the muscle with exercises like flys.
My 1 rep max is currently 120kg but I dont do that often, i usually train for sets with 8-12 reps, i only do the 1 rep max just to see what i can lift
mi dad can do 140kg 7 reps with his 2 traing buddys hes 17 n a half st n just over 6ft but after his work out hes weak lead on the floor @ home with the heat lamp lmao
i started the gym 4month ago i am 5 10 n can only do 80 i were 15st n now gone to 13.5 bin on the ephedrine n stack
awesome, glad to see people are still posting and adding t the poll.
Blimey, 107 at only 58kg, nice.Originally Posted by tom7471

You need to watch a few pro bodybuilder dvds mate. Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler have a few good ones. They prove that taking Steroids isnt isnt an easy way out . Personally I have never and will never take them. I believe that unless you are actually competing against people taking juice then why take, but thats just my opinion.Originally Posted by Andy

Whoops, I knew you were big, but I'm only slightly taller than you, two inches to be exact, but I dropped a stone in weight since the beginning of the year as I felt unfit, so now I'm 11 stoneOriginally Posted by Mr Olympia

Eminem, personally i think you are seriously overtraining. I would cut back on what you are doing as there is a lot of unnessecay work in there.
Cheers, I have been training 2 and a half years. The funniest thing about it is that i started benching 30 kg 3 sets of ten and 8kg on my arms 3 sets of ten! I was very weak but over the last two and a half years i feel i have done pretty well considering i dont take any supplements. I am now benching on sets of 114kg thanks to the advice from this forum and really starting to improve again. Cheers for the advice guys much appreciated.
