Default $ky Digi Fault - Pls Help

    Hi,

I have had $ky digital (not +) for a few years now. Recently I have been recieving an on screen error msg "no satellite signal is being recieved" as soon as it hits one channel the rest of em go down too. I have 75% signal strength.

Is there any way of fixing this?

I have tried a software update and although that fixes it temporarily sooner or later I end up in the same boat. What is happening? Why is it happening?

My knowledge about satellite systems is restricted in fact I don't have a clue!

After calling $ky on they advised me to get a new box for £65 which I really don't want to. If there is no way of fixing this problem surely I'm better of going for a D Box??

Thanks for any responses I receive

    Cheers!

Signal strength and quality both at 50%

As soon as the message is displayed "no sat signal is being recieved" it affects every single channel. Once I do a system firmware download everything gets restored temporarily.

I mainly watch the sports channels but when the message is displayed it kills all channels :-(

    please advise?

    thank you

    Hrm,

Have you tried the obvious, making sure the co-ax is seated properly in the back of the box?

Switching the box off at the mains for a while then turn it back on?

    is it s panasonic box?

you problem sounds extremly like a common fault with them. theres a fix for it but it requires some soldering, google panafix.

Sounds more like dish alignment thank anything else. Its a bit awkward realigning without a meter but can be done!! - Get the signal strength and quality page up and make very very small adjustments till they go up - Quality is more crucial than strength.!! - It could be the lnb is dodgy - might be worth seeingif a friend has the same dish as you and just swapping over the lnb first to see if the quality goes up - if so get yourself as new one - not too expensive!!
