Default Jap Import and Radio Compatability

My old man has got an imported Toyota people carrier but the radio wont pick up any UK radio stations.

I was considering buying him an MP3 head unit but just want to make sure that the head unit will connect up alright. IE is there any difference in the wireing loom on a Jap car and on a UK spec car?

Yup it will work fine as long as the aerial socket is standard or someone like Halfords do a connection converter.

The cheaper route is to buy a FM Band expander but the RDS (the name of the radio station you're listening too) won't work. They go for about 10-15 quid

Nice one mate, might go the expander route as it will save me a few pennies

We've never bothered with the channel expanders on our jap stuff tbh after having problems with them in the past, we fit aftermarket radios instead. The standard jap units aren't very good imo.

BM get him a new mp3 player ya tight sod!
