Default MY first stab at no flash night shots.

Thought I would try and take some night pics without flash and using exp/shutter levels to experiment with the outcome. I'm quite pleased with some of the shots and what I've learnt/learning about DOF. The only adjustments I have made is to the actual image size and all exif data is intact.

Taken with my Fujitsu S602Z, all at ISO 200 on a tripod with 2 second timer to avoid shake:
First on was with a little zoom, as it was around 400 metres away. (shutter: 0.63, F/S: 6.3)

In the next one the lights were actually giving an orange glow to them. (Shutter: 4 Secs, F/S:7)

Last was with a little zoom as well. (Shutter: 1/2 sec, F/S: 2.8)

Edit:- I just noticed in the thumbnails image 2 and 3 look like one pic, cool!

They've come out well for your first attempt.

Is this in preperation for a Christmas lights shot for the photo of the month.

Alas, I don't think Christmas lights is going to be my submission for photo of the month Slarti. There are some wonderful colours and the council haven't scrimped on this years display (spent over £100K) but I spent over an hour driving around the city centre trying to find the best angle to take some shots of the city centre and as you can see with the shot of the wheel, there is too many trees at low level from any angle to actually capture the entire frame correctly.

I have an idea for the christmas theme competition and just looking for the opportunity to take it (I carry my camera with me at all times, even whilst working) but like any good pic, patience is a virtue.
