Help!! How to hack the Hackers

Hi Guys, talking to a friend today who told me that he came downstairs in the early hours the other day and noticed his router lights all flashing, and that one of his neighbours or someone has connected to his wireless network. I know that he could easily block this, but he wants to teach this f***** a lesson, is there a way of hacking into his pc? Thanx for any replies. Happy Xmas

As shambles said though you can't blame someone for using a unsecure wireless network meaning free web access any curious mind would.

you could try using remote desktop but if the guy using the network knows anything about pc's he will have it locked down.

I agree fully.

If your mate has been stupid enough to run an unecrypted network, then he is a muppet of the highest order.

From a legal standpoint, your friend could bring charges against the offender if, he can prove his network was illegally accessed, and secondly, he has to prove beyond all doubt who the offender is.

Long story short.....

Your friend doesn't have the finances or resources to prove either, so call it a day & secure the network properly (which is what he should have done in the first place).

On the contrary, I think it is a criminal offence and can be reported to the popo at no expense (except to the taxpayer ofcourse). Still have to provide evidence for the police as they are as dumb as anything usually.

the trouble with plug and play gear is peeps just do that and dont check on what needs setting 1st

I have 10mb internet here but if I noticed a neighbour leave their system open I would have to have a nose.

When your friend bought his wireless equipment he must of had a read up of the instructions, all the kit I have fitted fully documents wep, it's not brain surgery to setup.

I'm sure your friend wasn't silly enough to have shared folders while he was wide open :-)
