Stuck with this broken Samsung

Hi guys,

Basically the story, My mate has given me a samsung E500 ( i think ) to try and get working.

The Big screen on the inside of the flip does not work, and he has few hundred numbers he wants to rescue.

I got a cable for it, but it seems the programs dont support the phone on USB only COM ports.

And when I plug the cable in the phone turns off ( can tell from the small display on the outside of flip)

How bigger job is it to get hold of another screen and attach it on.

If needs be he will take numbers off 1by1.

Whats the best way to go around this problem, ?

a screen isnt gunna be easy to come by for this phone m8, even if you do it will be expensive

iv got a samsung e800 and when you put the cable to the phone it turns off .you sould turn the phone off first before puting the cable on it.i also can not find a software to use on usb for the samsung e800 as you say they all use the coms.can anyone tell me what software to use
