    Default Mplayer2

Has anybody ever had problems with mplayer2.exe

I have always used the old media player (mplayer2) on XP. However, it suddenly stopped working.

On investigation I found that the mplayer2 "process" was starting but no window was popping up. When you look at the process list there would be a mplayer2 running for each time I tried to start it! (but still no windows). I then found that after a reboot mplayer2 was autostarting in the process list. Any attempts to manually close it results in the thing starting up again 10 seconds later.

    wierd

So I have always got a mplayer2 running???

I have searched the net high and low, and run different virus/spyware checks and found nothing?

    any ideas?

Hi DirtyGirl (Call me old fashioned but I hate to call you that).

You may have a spyware thingy.

Have a look at this thread, look for AlvinC about 4/5 post down. He mentions MPlayer2.

I`ll see what else I can dig up.

Cheers stevie. Just got my computer back up.

This is a really wierd one. There was something really suss about the whole thing yet no AV or spyware program could find a problem!

In the end I solved the problem easily....

Re-installed XP via unpartition and repartition + format (kills all known germs dead)

    Karma for your help!

I've never used any of the *BSD releases. How are they for compatibility issues etc? Do you compile everything from source or do you just use binaries?
