HDMI simply combines sound and video mate. You will see no difference.

SKY HD is going to utilise HDMI so get one that has Component and HDMI, I did

i think the extra £10 is only if u aint got the full package, same as sky+, i think i will wait coz 400 is loads and at start most channels wont support it

After dishing out over £3k for my system, and with the sports and movies getting HD on Sky first (Which is the channels I watch the most) £400 seems ok I suppose. I will utilise it and to be honest £400 for a Sky HD with Sky+ recorder, something that is used every single day, then on comparison to an Xbox 360 it is cheap as chips.

im asuming signal quality will also effect the picture quality alot, atm i get a ok picture with my sky+ box but if look closely at the tv u can see that there is a blur.

i might get the box( might beeing proberly will lol) i can understand what your saying about using it every day, lets just hope sky give a deal and not " brand new customers only"

HDMI = Digital video and audio signal
DVI = HDMI without the audio signal
    Component/VGA = Analogue signal

People say you can tell the difference but I have tried all of these and can't see it myself. Maybe with MUCH higher resolutions it will be noticable but for resolutions up to 1080i you just can't tell the difference. Maybe 1080p will change that.

I'm holding out but a lot of that is that I already have 2 HD-ready displays so I'm not in a rush. I'd say don't spend a ridiculous amount on what you buy now as in a years time you may regret it but like the other posts say for the 360 720p is fine

The next Gen of TV's will probably be '2k'. That is a format used now in Movies, and now '4k' has been introduced

'2k' is currently 1556p which is twice as good as 720p obviously. The resoulution used is 2048x1556 so I would expect those TV's are a long long way off! Our CRT broadcast monitors at work cost in the region of £20-£30k and there only 21" and weigh a metric ton (lol)!!

Native HD in the Movie industry is 1920x1080p and I would expect a HD TV with that resolution is a way off too. But I could be wrong.
