    Default Brokeback Mountain

I find it amazing no one has posted a review about this. yeah yeah I know its about gay cowboys but ffs its top reviews every where you go - but why ?

well I watched this with my mrs over the weekend and expected to gag. However this was an amazingly shot movie and they packaged it so that the cowboys were not queer - but in love - it was essentially a brilliantly filmed / scripted / acted love story. Fantastic soundtrack btw - and ang lee did some outstanding scenic shots on this one.

Put your prejudices aside - this was a really great movie and id give it 8.5 / 10

I'll second that m8, watched it Saturday and it is a great movie. Great performances from Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal and a great script.

Above all things it was a love story, and a very touching one at that. The film also has some very valid points too regarding same sex relationships in that part of the US. The film spans the 60s/70s/80s but I think the story probably has as much resonance today as it would have back then.

    8/10

I went to see this last week, and was very impressed. I thought as a film it was fantastically done; well shot, well acted, and very well directed.

Overall 9/10, and I can see why it is touted for all the oscars.

TBH, I do think they went overboard on the gay aspect a little though, especially in some cases, but Anne Hathaway's tit flash more than made it worthwhile

It was a film about 2 men in love, did you miss that bit?

Nah, sorry. I should have been more clear. What I meant was that although the film was well shot and accurately portrayed the subject, I just felt that at some points they put in scenes that really served no purpose to the overall story whatsoever. Basically, i thought they were added in there just to gain a little more publicity. I can't point out any particular moments, but around halfway through i felt like the topic was overtaking the actual story. Was soon rectified though, and my original comment still stands, excellent film in all aspects.

I watched it last night and found it to be very ,very slow bordering on boring. I kept watching with expectation thinking something exciting would materialize but it didnt.
A couple of the scenes I found repulsive , must be because Im not into homosexual voyeurism . The ending was also abrupt and disappointing . I also had trouble hearing and understanding a lot of what was being spoken by strong accented and soft spoken actors.

On a positive note ,some of the scenery was stunning but nothing I hadnt seen before in Bonanza or a good ol John Wayne film.

5/10 for an in my opinion greatly overhyped film.

Watched this last night and must say that i thoroughly enjoyed it.
I agree with 4me2 about finding it hard to understand the accent but its not that vital i feel.

The main thing i didnt like about it was the way it covered a very long period of time in just over 2 hours so it did miss out years between scenes with no explanation.

Overall great excellent and lovely shots (no pun intended!!)

Nope, sorry can't see what all the hype is about. I heard today that's it's been nominated for 8 oscars.

Me and the wife watched it at the weekend and I found myself wondering if the film was going to be hard going after only the first 10 minutes, but to cut a long story short, which is obviously what the filmakers failed to do, me and the good lady turned it of after 1 hour 20 minutes.

The gay angle didn't phase me, I just found it slow to the extreme and the quiet, mumbling dialogue from the 2 main characters was very hard to understand clearly. 1 hour 20 minutes was plenty long enough for me.

In short again, OSCARS, you sure?

I always have a bag of cod liver oil tablets to suck instead of popcon when I'm watching a filum for that very reason, but no good in this case I'm afraid

You have a point Mr. Fincher.

The truth is I would have switched off after 10, I'm pretty sure you can get a good idea of how good a filum is going to be after 10 minutes, but my good lady wanted to stick with it, after all everybody seems to be saying what a great movie it is, but even she wanted to finish the whole thing after 80 mins.

    Good on her I say.

Ok, i watched this on sunday with my lady and even though we enjoyed it as essentially this is a love story about two people who just wasted their lives in the end with the wrong people which left us with a sad ending, but i still couldnt help cringing in my seat at some of the scenes, this is because i am far from being a homophobic but i still dont like to see it....the bit where he wets his hand so he can slip it in made me just shut my eyes....and my lady had a great time sitting there watching me squirm around

Well not seen it yet, and not anywhere near the top of the list for films to see. Prefer an action film rather than "that kinda" film

But the fact you kept watching meant there must have been something you liked about it?

I personally just dont like turning films off after ive already commited that much time to it and once its finished i can make my mind up on it

I think you'd like it m8, ask Rap about the action in the tent. It was wild, Heath Ledger had to ride that beast as though his life depended on it. I believe he went the full 10 seconds.
