New Secret ATi PC Video Card as Powerful as Xbox 360

The Xbox 360, it seems, has already met its match... on the PC front, at least.

Tech sites HardOCP and Tech Report have uncovered a leak that supposedly shows off the specs of ATi's secret PC video card line, the Radeon x1900. The card boasts some of the same specs as the Xbox 360's graphic processor; judging by the numbers, the card will stand toe-to-toe to the Xbox 360 in terms of raw pixel-pushing capabilities.

The high-end card - the Radeon x1900 XTX - reportedly weighs in with 48 pixel pipelines, just like the Xbox 360's bleeding-edge graphical processor (also designed by ATi). The Radeon x1900 XTX also sports a super-speedy 650 mhz CPU core and 512 megs of high-end 1.5 Ghz RAM.

Meanwhile, HardOCP has received official word from an ATi representative, who states that an embargo is under effect until the 24th of January. At that point, ATi should be releasing confirmed information about the upcoming graphics card.

You can apparently order a lower-end model over the net - the Radeon x1900 XT - for round $800, though HardOCP's ATi source has confirmed that orders won't ship until the 24th.

The card in the 360 is already at least a year old in design, when the new pc cards come out in 6 months of course they will be equal.....and 18 months behind.

It was always said that Spring 06 would see the release of a gfx card more powerful than the one in the 360.

Makes no difference. Because of not needing to be backwardly compatible that will make games that the PC cannot handle on the 360. Besides which WoW is the only PC game I play hehe

games on the card still wont look as good as a 360 game could look anyway, programmers cant use pc hardware in the same way as console hardware because of the varying specs, same as the xbox1, u wont see halflife2 running on a 733 celeron with 64 meg ram and a gforce3

You can already snaffle X1900s from Ebuyer, if you have the money. It's seriously pissing me off how much they think the average PC gamer has money wise I remember when my top of the range Voodoo2 cost me £100!

If I wanted to *slag off* the 360 , I would of posted this in the pc gaming area , im merely pointing out the stupid price you have to pay to get near the Xbox 360 performance . Some posts above are valid and realize what the Xbox 360 is all about , whilst the others are just a load of b0ll0x

and yes a pc can match the performance when you compare what games look like right now, because they use 1 core in most games... give it time to mature and it will be even better.
