Firefox 1.5 running like shit..any ideas?

Just done a fresh windows install and downloaded Firefox 1.5 but it's giving me hassle.

If i open up a few pictures in seperate tabs it all slows down and seems to be eating up loads of memory until i close them again, pain in the arse because im always opening multiple images in seperate tabs.

Im sure i've had this problem before but i can't remember how it got fixed and i've forgotten which version of firefox i was running previously.

Any ideas? or does anyone know where i can download the previous version of it so i can see if it's just 1.5 that's being a pain?

1.4 far back enough? have u tried any other browsers? is IE doing it, or specific to ff? tried opera 9? http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/o90p1_8031.exe

Seems to just be Firefox, im only comparing that with IE though.

I've never actually used Opera before, might need to give that a shot aswell.

Downloaded the 1.4 from that link but its a foreign language version (czech i guess) i'll have a look around, bound to be somewhere else with it.
