Default XboX Streaming Problems cant figure it out

Ok i have looked around but must be missing something stupid.

If i plug the XboX through the router, i can see my PC shared folders BUT if i plug it directly into the PC i dont.

I would like it this way for a few reasons.

    Can anyone help?

Let me know what info needed.

    Cheers.....Q

it's probably the cable...the cable you are using via the hub is a STRAIGHT network cable... you need to use a CROSSOVER cable to connect directly to the PC.

Or you have it set to automatic ip address(DHCP).
The router will assign an IP address on connection to your pc and xbox.
So if no router is connected, the IP addresses must be set manually.
If this is the case, simply set your xbox ip address to one that is in the same subnet range as your pc.
    For example, set:
PC to 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Xbox to 192.168.0.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0

It is a cross over cable (thanks though, not unliek me to be so stupid!)

    Hence the next comment/question

How do i set my XboX IP to look specifically for the PC? I am unsing XBMC, I could not find (when looking) what my XboX IP was, though the one you list aboce looks familiare.

    Cheers.....Q

Under XBMC go to settings, network and there is an option to manually input the IP address.
