I'm starting to think this is fairly heavily biased towards Intel processors.
Last night I managed 750 ish but this was with my X2 3800+ at 3Ghz, a 7800 GTX KO, 36GB Raptors in Raid-0. my memory was running pretty slow speeds due to my dividers being set all wrong but still.
I get the feeling that dual core is giving no added benefit to the scores and also the benefits in score from my graphics card gon't seem that great over lower cards.
CD scores are a bit iffy too, I've had from 0.13 to 3.1. It seems it accepts DVDs too which gives me a better score generally.
Can't get it to run. keeps crashing with a error now. Oh well.

After looking through the site it appears that only the fully registered version of the app performs multi-threaded benchmarks.
ahem

Will give it a shot when I get home.
P4 3.2E (800mhz FSB, 1mb L2 cache)
1gb PC2700 DDR Ram (2x512mb)
80gb Maxtor SATA HD (7200rpm, 8mb cache)
ATi Radeo 9800Pro (128mb)
Pioneer A09 DVD-RW
XP Pro, SP 2
I did it one whilst using my computer, got 397. had another go without and the reults came up different. im not too surprised but i have two 2.0ghz processors and expected a bit more. coule this by down to the hard drive graphics card and DVD RW?
I got 420.4 the 2nd time round

RAM is 1GB mate. I'm pretty sure the graphics card be the problem. its an early Radeon 128mb my friend
Where is your performance test boyo? hit me with your stats. How did DJAd beat me. Is he souped up?
i think the stats answer that oneOriginally Posted by blondedan

By the way. I cant post PMs yet cos I havent hit 20 decent posts and dont plan on doin that just now so hopefully will get a little sympathy and not get into trouble for tellin you here that your gas problem could be explained to the regulators OFGEM or at leat threaten British Gas with them if they dont compenstae you in a decent way. Maybe tell them that you will rally up the troops too and storm the British Gas headquarters (the first one is probably a better idea though!)
its 10 posts last time i checked m8, u sure u dont have access to pm's?Originally Posted by blondedan

I suppose ideally it should be used on a fresh install but I don't think it's very good benchmarking software given the highly varied results.
Isn't PCmark the standard one?
Well, I think the main issue with this one is that it doesn't give any additional credit to CPUs capable of more than 1 thread, these days that is a bit of a drawback.
Another thing is that it tries to test every aspect of your PC. IMHO testing the read speed of your CD/DVD drive is just taking things a little too far, especially when it is an area that the results can be inconsistent.
As for alternatives, PCMark04, PCMark05 may be better. Good old 3dMark2001 also provides a more rounded, overall performance benchmark than graphics card dominated 2003 or 2005.
I'd be happy to take part in threads for any of them.
I'm "as standard" mate, I was thinking the same about ZX7R's results, looks like he has a similar spec to me but got a much better score!Originally Posted by blondedan
I know this is an old thread, but I just built a new setup an decided to see how it did...
Setup is:
- 2DB DDR 2 PC5300 RAM (2 x 1GB sticks)
- E6600 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz (according to these benchmarks this is meant to be better than AMD's and WAAAAYY better than a 3.73GHz Pentium D Extreme Edition)
- 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7950GT
- Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB 7200 SATA Hard disk
- Pioneer-111D (2 of 'em)
- Windows XP Pro SP2
Scored 821.6

that odd, I got 767 on my pretty old amd machine, yet spec wise that your core 2 dua should blow it away, although gotta say my 9800XT isnt half a beast ;P
considering how old it is, it's pretty good at JUST about letting me play latest games
