Default BIOS not found on start up

THis may be a strange one.

My PC doesn't seem to run at optimum and I wondered if it is because every time I start up it seems to search for a none existent SATA drive and then a message appears saying BIOS not found!

The computer kicks into a stats page and then starts as if this hasn't happened, yet it still doesn't run with the full 4.0ghz that it offers. any ideas?

Ever come across this one before?

    Thanks

The bios error is to do with the pc looking for a controller with a bios on it, not your main bios as it wouldn't even start at all. You've probably got a drive type enabled in your main bios that makes it look for the controller bios for that device. Are you running your pc at the correct bus speed? and is your ram running at it's correct frequency? If these are set low, the PC will run slower. Also, lack of free hard disk space will effect performance as it uses this for the swap file.

When it comes to the PC I'm not much of a whizz. The hard disk space is plentiful and I have 1GB of RAM. On my computer information I read Xeon(TM) 2.00GHz - I have two of these - and 1.87Ghz, 1.00GB of RAM. I think that the processors are a little underclocked to save them from overheating but apart from that I dunno. Any further advice. How do I check Bus speed?

    Thanks

When you start up your system, hit del and go into your main BIOS. In one of the sections you will have SATA RAID enabled, as your mobo will have a couple of SATA ports and a RAID controller built in. Disable that setting and it wont look for SATA drives connected to your board anymore.
As for your cpu speed problem, that's been explained above kindof, but difficult to offer advice without more specific settings details...

and a pair round /live (include the backslash)

put the word name inbetween the two with no spaces

    Okay.

I have been into the BIOS and disabled Serial ATA in the advanced option. Yet the message I am getting is still BIOS not installed (I know I said found in the original post but it says installed!)

Now. Ive been on the ASUS website, as I have and ASUS PC-DL Deluxe motherboard socket 604 (I think) and now I'm even more confused. I aint no technical genius (obviously) and now am totally stumped. Cheers neo2810 but is there any chance you can tell me more?

The reason you are getting the "BIOS not found" error message is because you do not have any drives attached to the onboard SATA controller.

If you want to get rid of this message, then you need to go in to the BIOS and disable the controller itself.

As far as I can tell, it is disabled. The part of the BIOS that says On-chip Serial ATA is [disabled] and the RAID feature is also disabled. This doesn't stop the message appearing. Is there anything else that could cause this or am I missing something really obvious?

You must be missing something mate, because if the controller was disabled then you wouldn't be getting that message.
