Default Greasemonkey (and other extensions) for Opera

love opera but forced to use the shat pile that is firefox cos u wanna use greasemonkey?

well this is for you.. found this today.

    read this:
    http://userjs.org/scripts/browser/en...a-gm-functions

    how to:
stick this file in any dir eg c:/userjs
    http://userjs.org/scripts/download/b...m-functions.js

    then
in opera 8: Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Content -> JavaScript Options. Add the location of your newly created script directory to My JavaScript files.

in opera 9: Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Sites -> Default Settings -> Scripting. Add the location of your newly created script directory to My JavaScript files.

then go grab any greasemonkey script you like, shove it in the userjs folder, check out the site its for and it should work.

heres the link for the newzbin script that puts direct download links on the listings as opposed to entering a seperate page for those who wanna try it out: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/1425

for other interesting opera extensions check here: http://userjs.org/

for other greasemonkey scripts, check here: http://userscripts.org/

works a fucking charm... dunno how many of the scripts work.. but heres hoping opera will add official support for this kinda thing soon.

No, I hear you're getting used to it though. It's a step up from the tesco.net browser though. Well done.

I use FF and IE, mainly FF though. Opera doesn't stand up to the job I'm afraid, it's got some nice features but it's pretencious and those who use it usually are too. Of course that's just my opinion and what do I know?

    I'm a happy IE user

I do use FF occasionaly, either to check a design or to load a page which has been made by a web monkey and hasn't been cross-browser tested.

my my, now it's only a web browser, let's keep our stature out of this

set what in yer default sites... what u on about?

have u set "c:/userjs" as yer directory in tools/prefs/content/javascript options/my javascript files (opera 9 build 8238)

then whenever you search for something in newzbin, rather than it showing search results with somones name in the editor column, it has a direct link titled "[download]" so you dont have to enter the page first...

    no its not.. http://userjs.org/scripts/download/b...m-functions.js
    is not a link..

    http://userjs.org/scripts/browser/en...a-gm-functions is a link.

anyway, its possible that it uses new features of latest greasemonkey implementations..

the gm-functions script on replicates gm functions, but i dont think its been updated in a while..

i cant be arsed trying the file myself.. what does it do? whats the editor field? and why would you need this if your using the SAB script?

    that would be why

opera follows standards to such a great extent, i think it's great. it exceeds the standards to the extent that most pages that are IE specific will actually look either exactly the same or very close to the same, wheras firefox doesnt even implement the basics correctly and has no hope of getting the IE specific stuff right

i might look into this greasemonkey thing, never even heard of it before now
