Default Good Night, and Good Luck

This was George Clooney second attempt at directing and I think he did a good job.

Set in 1950s America when communist paranoia was rife. Clooney plays Fred Friendly a news producer for CBS who with his reporter Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn, the blind bloke in Sneakers) attempt to take a stand against those exploiting the paranoia, namely Senator Joseph McCarthy.

No one was cast for the part of McCarthy, instead Clooney decided to include actual footage from court hearings at the time which i think really added to feel of the period it was set in. Clooney also shot this film in black and white which also adds to the effect.

Overall I think this was a very original and well shot film. The acting was also very good. The story was a little bit boring and I think it needed a little bit more drama.

    6.5/10

I thought this was a great movie - kinda in the mould of all the presidents men - not quite as much tension tho

    ill give it an 8
