    Default 406 dash.

I have been approaced by a trade cstomer to adjust the mileage on a 406 97/P reg with Jaeger dash. I tend not to get involved with mileage correction as I have seen how sad it makes people when they find out their pride and joy has done more miles than it is supposed to have done! However this job is legit. I have read most of the posts here and it looks like a bit of a problem job and prehaps one I shouldnt get involved with. Can anyone pass comment?

P.s I have an eeprom progger and am not afraid to use it!

If its a Jaeger then its micro based and you need the correct kit, had it been a Sagem version you could have done it as there eeprom.

What gear would that be? Also the web address in your sig is a dead link. Just thought I would point that out.

A simple MotoCracker Interface in conjunction with the easily available MotoCracker Software will read the HC05B16 eeprom contents. You can build a simple interface for less than a tenner. All the info you need is on the Interweb if you search. Once you have the dump, post it and I'll edit it for you.

Cheers keyscoob. I looked at ramanpathy.co.uk is that your site? If so I assume the motocracker on the site will do the trick will it?

Also do I need to desolder the micro or can I read it on the board?

It would do the job but I should say that you can make one yourself much cheaper. You will need to cut/lift a few mins. Not the whole micro.

Nice one mate, now all I have to do is make it and find the software. What version of the software does this schematic work with?

I do not seem to be able to pm you, I get the message

Screaminskull200, sch in fine but use at your own risk. Its down to your electronics skill in the end.

Hate to be too cheeky keyscoob, you have helped alot already. I have managed to get hold of 7.1.0 now if that is any help to you. But I have only just got around to making a start on this little project and just wondered how you make your boards. I use press n peel on copper coated boards. I print the image on to the press n peel with my inkjet printer and iron it on to the board before etching it. I just wondered if you used the same method and if so do you aleady have an image of the board. It would save me an awful lot of time thats all. I will not produce these commercially and will almost certainly not make more than 1 board so it seems a lot of work to go to.

I have UV unit and etch tank so I can make my own boards no problem. If you design the board you want using the freeware version of Eagle from www.cadsoftusa.com and send me the .brd file I willl make you a single PCB to your design. All I ask is that you cover expenses and postage.

Guys, if you're having problems with a 1997 Peugeot 406 with Jaeger clocks, they are such a pain to work on. Just pick up an old Sagem unit from your local breakers. 5 minutes to programme the 9346. Should cost no more than £30 or £40 for such an old car. Slots straight in and no problems. Obviously diesel clocks are different, revs are lower. And there are 5 dial versions etc.

And on such an old car, who would take the trouble to read the eeprom to see if the matching VIN number is in there?

    Just a suggestion.
