Sky+ Alternative

Is their any alternative to Sky+ so that you can record Sky, like a HD recorder. I know that you can buy HD recorders but are there any available that can record more than one channel at a time via Sky.

I presume with a hard drive recorder it will only ever record via the AV channel and therefore you can only record the channel you are watching.

I dislike Sky the company with a passion but i can't get digital TV in my area so i have no choice, Sky plus just seems like a rip off to me, £89.00 with multiroom (don't want multiroom) or £200.00 without and £10.00 subscription as i only have the family package.

Well, there's Tivo.

You can record like Sky+ but it has a far superior search system, is easily upgradeable and can come with a lifetime subscription already paid, so you get the updates.
