depends who you are with and if they require you to ask to change package. Zen you have to request a package change to the new service and they are saying that it will basically take a few days before you get it (after 31st that is). Today is the day BT accepted the orders from the ISP.
I am with F2S and nothing showing about a regrade in my CP yet.
They were testing the other week and I had 7.1mbit for a while in my router stats.
How about posting results in here when people have them?
Apparently someone on Freedom2Support rang F2S today and got told the option would be there on Monday so bring it on!! If the £15 fee still applies after BTWholesale have dropped it I will be pissed off but apparently some upgrades will be free.
BTs checker states that -
Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 6.5Mbps up to 8Mbps.
Fucking great.
what monthly cap you gonna be on tho ? i would rather stick with "no limits" 2Mbps tbhOriginally Posted by bertroot
zen monthly cap is 50gb at peak times and unlimited off peak. Also unlimited upload.
50GB is a f00kin joke !!
aye it is but i am never at home during peak times so most of my downloading is off peak. failing that i am really just trying to see what i can get and then ill look around to find a better ISP anyway......
I rang F2S yesterday and was told Monday to regrade also there would be a a £5 charge, bit cheeky when it costs them nowt! will get my regrade then check out the packages offered around next week. Im also expecting 6.5mb - 8mb woohoo!!
a friend on mine called them yesterday and they were told that because we are on the uncapped package, we get upgraded automatically and for free.Originally Posted by bertroot
only the other packages have to request and pay for it.
hard to believe but thats what f2s told him
From a pipex newsgroup [pipex.xtreme.support] poster..
I called Pipex yesterday [31st March] and the reason why you can't order Pipex
Max yet is that their systems haven't upgraded the information and
prices yet, they are half way through it, and it will take at least a
week for them to be active.
They must have changed that because the cap was a flat 50GB on the pro account.Originally Posted by TIN CAN
f2s has a FUP with 100Gig, you'll get contacted if you constantly go over 100Gig, however thats only at peak times schedule news downloads between 1am and 5am and you should be fine. They do also traffic shape outside of those hours so unless you know how to tunnel traffic I wouldn't advise f2s for max.
Download my latest breaks and electro mixes or listen to Sellout Breaks FM
i got a reply from F2s after i was getting crap usenet speeds.
I asked them directly if they were limiting me in any way with traffic shaping.
they replied that they do not restrict bandwidth at all on the unlimited account, only on the 2 lower products.
i know its probably lies but thats what i got told
Looks a reasonable deal...
(no newsgroups tho)
so there is no download limits lol wonder how long for..... that would be leeched to bits surely ??
if thats right might be worth migrating out from Zens 50gb limit.... when it says no newsgroups i pay for newsbin etc so surely i can still use them okay...
I can't upgrade yet as their upgrade pages don't show the new option.
New users can apply tho through the standard path.
They have a FUP and are strict with it. No absolute details of when their traffic management kicks in but it will if the line is "abused".Originally Posted by TIN CAN
Is there a limit on the amount of data I can download or upload?Looks good on the surface ( as all DSL Max products do ) , but if you are hoping for a *unlimited upto 8Mbps service* on the cheap , then they dont exist . It is financial suicide for the ISP's , so caps and traffic shaping are the way forward for them on the new services.
This depends on the PIPEX broadband service you are on, but most have no usage allowance. However, PIPEX continually looks to address the challenges of managing a shared service in the interest of the majority of users, during peak periods. This may require traffic managing certain customers during particular periods in order to allow our network to be used fairly.
I shall be sticking with my *no limits* 2Mbps connection for now ( Zen ) and shall wait to see how it pans out in the near future and really hope that all the people who are going over to Max DSL have read the T+C's accordingly.
Good luck with your possible move / upgrade

Freedom2Surf CP not showing available to regrade yet.
Regrades will be available again from April 3rd. From here you can regrade your ADSL service to a different download speed or contention ratio. Simply select the desired service from below and click on the BUY link.
Please note: Line quality tests will need to be performed to ensure the requested service will function correctly and assuming this is ok the regrade should occur within 5 to 10 working days. Regrade charges are billed once the regrade has been successfully completed.
F2S regrade system will apparently be available at 12:00 today according to their operators.
