can pc use two monitors

im just about to build up another pc and was wondering if it is possible to have two monitors working on one pc?

reason is i like gaming and its a pain when i have to check things while gaming, and two monitorswould be great, can use one for gaming and the other for the likes of running other programs

the motherboard and processor i have are

asus a8n32-sli deluxe motherboard
amd athlon 64 x2 4800
and got corsair 2.0gb twinx - 3200 (400mhz_ ddrram) for the memory

gonna be using sata 250 hdds, probs 2 or three of them

i have 2x ge force 6 6200, 256 mb ddr agp8x 64 bit graphic card, but these are out of old pcs i preiously made so will probs upgrade the graphics

and help would be great as i want to mke the perfect pc for me

Yep, just get a graphics card that has both VGA and DVI out, you can then connect 2 Monitors for DUAL display (You normally get a DVI--> VGA adapter so that 2 x VGA monitors can be connected)

thats how i have mine and while i dont play games it makes this a lot easier to have everything running on screen at once

the classic is always buying two AGP cards to achieve this feat, then trying to install them both. doh!

well ive now decided exactly what system im gonna build

asus a8n32-sli deluxe motherboard
amd athlon 64x2 4800 processor
corsair 2 gb ddr2 xms2-5400 twin x memory
enermax liberty 620w atx sli psu
xfx geforce 7800 gtx extreme xxx edition 512 mb graphic card
3x western digital 250 gb hdds

just ordered the top 3 and the next load of parts will come next month

now do i use my 2 14'' ftps or do i go for bigger ones, has to be bigger, im off hunting for the best prices and thanks to all you for responces and links

When you hook up your two monitors get a program called ultramon to manage them. It'll take over from windows which likes to do a few silly things when you have two monitors installed.

i am thinking of hooking up 2 screens and found this thread as i had no idea how to do it i am runing off on board at the min so am i right in saying if i get one of these

yup, it works like you have one screen next to the other and the one on the rights edge joins the right edge of the monitor on the left just like you have one big screen but for the two edges in the way
