    Default Premiership greatest Goalkeeper

following on from the "greatest midfielder" thread, as thats become an argument btwn Mancs and scousers

I would say it would be Peter Schemichel

But also I rate Shay Given as a top keeper..... he would be 2nd choice
I think over the years he has proven to be consistently a cracking keeper

    what does everyone else think?

No Seaman? No Southall? (Ok maybe he had his best days in the 80s) No Martyn?

To name Reina and Cech in at such an early stage is a joke to be honest...

Schmiechel best IMO (although I accidentally clicked on 'other')

Not saying Cech and Reina aren't good goalies but theres goalies like Martyn and Seaman who gave well over a decade of consistency

Shay Given is quality - he deserves to be in there

Tim Flowers too, he was good

It would be churlish of me to vote for Given just coz he plays for the Toon.

Rudlolph was outstanding in all his years at the red scum, but after that he should have given up. Would have been interesting to see how he rated behind the Toon's defence, or Given behind manure's.

its all down to opinions for me it has to be the manc twat,as u say southall in the 80s certainly not in the prem as for seaman although he was a decent keeper i always thought he was to busy preening himself to be a great keeper and i dont think martyn could be put in the same bracket simply cos he never really played at the highest level did he

Yup, the Red Nosed Dane was probably one of the best ever, not just the PL.

It can only be Scheichel up to date. If Cech stays on current form he may push for parity.

Cech was good last season, but not as good this season. And Reina might break his clean sheet record too.

hahaha come on now, Webby. You're not being serious? I can't see how Reina could be even considered for this poll when he's yet to even finish his first premiership season.

1992/93 was the first Premiership season. Southall retired in 2002 but left Everton in 97/98 season.

He should have been in the poll.

Dave Seaman in his mid nineties prime was a legend. Its criminal u put a plank like Reina in the list who has only played 30 odd games in the premiership and not him.
