cheap number plates

would just like to know where i could possibly buy cheap number plates, as all i know is the dvla website and they cost quite a bit, and then they add their service charges and registration fees!

Hi,

DVLA is the cheapest as this is where a lot of other companies databases link to when you are searching their sites, for instance if you found a plate on DVLA for £500 then £85 of that is the registration fee which means that once you get the plate and either fill in the V500 or go into a DVLA office it costs you nothing to put it onto your car. (Well just the admin fee of your insurance company and £20 at the post office to change your tax disk reg over). A lot of sites will charge you the DVLA price and then add on £85 registration fee..... These days though a lot of the best plates have gone as the new regs make it a lot harder to make a name etc....

PS Also to get the plates made these days is mucho hassle as even Halfords wont incorrectly space letters anymore and you need the V5 and photo ID to get plates made...what a nightmare...

I bought a '06' one from dvla last week for 1295 sobs all in, was well pleased with the price tbh.
There's generally a selection of cheap dataless ones in the autotrader etc so might be worth a look there too m8.

cheapest plates are 249 (im pretty sure including transfer fees) off dvla. The more desirable, the more expensive. If dvla not selling plate u want its either already out, or saved for auction cos its very interesting.

These other companies selling plates either
a: sell u plates from dvla for a markup
b: buy plates of people who got them and sell em back 2 u
c: tell people who got good plates they might be able to sell em, then sell em to people like u when they can.

Yeah £249 is the cheapest ive seen them on DVLA. They are usually the prefix ones with a letter, 2 numbers and 3 initials.
