    ive got a 3dr rover 25 x reg 1.6iL and i want to get shot of it while its running ok.

    its in pretty good condition and just recently had a new engine due to a head gasket failure.. new engine was at 4k mileage when fitted.

    anyway i dunno which route to go down, do i sell it privately, auction it or p/exchange ?

    prolly looking for a fiesta or something in the 2.5-3k range and ive got about 500-1k to stick on top of whatever i get for the rover..

    where am i likely to get the best return from? private/aution/exchange? and does anyone know if having an almost new engine nicked from an mgzr that has only done about 5k mileage will make much difference in how much i should be looking for, if so, how much?

    You will 9 times outta 10 always get more for the vehicle after selling it privately.

    Make sure you have well documented evidence of the replacement engine as believe it or not average joe might be put off with it having had an engine replacement as they may think there is something dodgy about it.

    mm.. bollox.. dont really have any documentation about the engine.. just asked the garage to deal with it and gimme the bill.

    I wouldn't take too much notice of what Parkers has to say about the value of your car, the Parkers price and what you can expect in the real world are 2 completely different things.

    The old ladies V plate Mondeo is apparently worth £2400 in a private sale, but in the real world she'd be lucky to get £1800.
    Your best bet is to look in the Exchange & Mart and see what they are going for.
    Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
    Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
    Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
    Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
