New ntlhell upgrades announced 2Mbit->4Mbit + 10Mbit Unlimited

Cable Forum has received word from *** that from June 1st 2006, there will be a free Broadband speed increase for 2Mb customers and the freedom of unlimited for 10Mb. Current 2Mb customers will see their speed doubled to 4Mb and the upload rate double to 400K.

This will mean that ***’s 1Mb, 4Mb and 10Mb services will all now be with unlimited access.

From 1st June 2006, new and existing customers will automatically receive up to 4Mb download speeds.

Heh, rather amusing that the caps never actually came into play. 10mbit is supposed to be 75gb per month but so far I've not seen nowt from them and I grab far more than that usually.

cable doesn't use the phone line, so you can get it installed then cancel the adsl/phoneline if you like, there's no migration process.

It'll take as long as it takes *** to come and do the install.

I agree. For the past 2-3 months I've struggled to get more than 60Kbytes per second out of my 2Mbit line. It's been down as low as 5Kb per second for some periods too. Seems OK-ish right now (160Kbytes/s) but I was getting pissed off for a while.

I thought sod it and upgraded to 10 meg a few minutes ago, currently getting only 7.6 meg though ffs, still, it's better than the 2meg I had. I can grab a dvd in just under 2 hours now instead of 5 and a half

it really varies on where you live, im one of the few lucky ones who gets a solid 1200k per sec

my mate lives bout 10 miles away and his runs at about 6-700
