Just booked up for August with Thai Airways not the most up to date planes but the cheapest around i think
    cost for your dates
    Fare Tax
    782.00 + 93.60 x 2 Adult = 1751.20
    524.00 + 93.60 x 2 Child (2-11) = 1235.20

    Total fare 2986.40

    Total * 789.40

    Booking fee 2.00

    Credit card surcharge 6.00

Dialaflight has always been the cheapest provider that I've found. Great customer service as well. One of the few such companies that I'll remain relatively loyal to for their first class service and excellent rates.

As Pongo said it's off peak for thailand at the mo and stupidly hot, hence the price you paid. Still damn good price though...

Yeah I know.. I was considering starting a thread to get people's ideas of what I could buy whilst over there (with the aim of selling for profit when I get back). Fake football shirts springs instantly to mind.

    Yep M8,
Some good advice from that website

Plan your wardrobe well ... cottons that dry fast. Bring water friendly footwear.
Find or fashion a double waterproof packet for critical items such as passport, tickets, travelers checks. Make sure it becomes forgetless
If you do get marooned by temporary flooding, improvise.
Find a temple and have a chat with the monks or locals.
Find an open front restaurant with good smells.
Order 5 dishes you have never tried and sample.
Quiz the cooks about techniques and ingredients.

especially as we have to get an internal flight from bangkok to phuket

The problem is you don't see many cheap direct flights. esspecially over christmas. I found direct flights for the lot of you for £2,936 on www.kelkoo.co.uk through thomas cook. Thinks is on iraq air though . on www.ba.com you'd be looking at about £3600.
Couldn't you just save a few quid by getting the indirect flights and filling the kids with valium?
