OK The new WGA Validation & Notification has been hacked

Just find the new LegitCheckControl.dll (v1.5.526.0) and upload that to system32 in safe mode AFTER you have installed the latest WGA Notification update (note i said NOTIFICATION not validation)
All the pop ups and nags dissapear - works great

also to disable just the nags...

To disable it run reg edit goto:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon

Right click on Settings (Key/Folder) ->
Permissions ->
Advanced ->
Untick Inherit from... ->
Remove any permissions left in the box above ->
Add ->
Everyone ->
Tick Deny Full Control ->
Ok ->
Ok

You have just stopped anyone from accessing the data that tells
the WGA notification programs whether your copy is genuine or not.

This only disables the WGA Nags, it isnt a bypass for the indows genuine advantage check.



There is also a tool called MUBLINDER - ive attached the tool and here is the info.....

Unlike other solutions you see floating around that require you to delete DLLs and install fake ones, which in some cases causes system instability, or the need to wait and download new DLLs everytime MS updates their Genuine Windows Validation library, muBlinder works to directly manupilate the checking mechanism and blinds it in its own memory space.

In addition, muBlinder does not need to be installed and can be placed on a floppy disk or flash memory stick. Just unzip to a folder of your choice and run it. For removal, simply delete the muBlinder.exe file.

Usage:

1) Run muBlinder.exe

2) Click on "Start"

3) Wait till the Microsoft Update site loads in the built-in browser, MS Genuine Windows Validation is now blinded!

4) View, Choose and Install any updates available.

Thanks for the Info. Just replaced LegitCheckControl.dll in c:\windows\system32 and seems to working fine for the moment. I’m not getting the validate windows XP after the boot up of my PC.

oh poo - mublinder worked well but the only update it comes up with is genuine advantage notification!

The best way around this little problem requires the use of a USB drive, a copy of Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.41 on the USB Drive and a trip to your local library.

Get access to the library PC, either as a guest or using your own acc.

Insert the USB Drive.

Run the Jellybean keyfinder

Make a note of the XP key used on the PC as supplied by the keyfinder, not the one listed on the pretty hologram stuck to the side of the unit (everybody has nicked that one).

Remove the USB Drive and log off.

Head home and using that dusty old copy of XP SP2 (VLK) install a fresh copy using the library key.

You will now have a valid XP SP2 installation with a valid VLK key that windows update will not block.

Do not know if this will work using a method to change keys on the fly though, works a treat on fresh installs.

Confirmed, as of today/yesterday (18-19 May) Microsoft have updated their code as to thwart muBlinder. Therefore muBlinder no longer works. I suspect any method similar to this will also fail although I have not had a chance to review the new MS code yet.

I just installed it to see if it would bring back the nag but nothing so far?
