    Default The Ringer

    Erm....

This is weird - Johnny Knoxville basically needs some cash quick and gets himself into a situation and so has to pretend to be special needs so that he can win the special needs olympics!

Guess it's a hard one to call, the majority of the cast are intellectually disabled, but the film is quite funny, wish I could take some screen dumps as looking at some of these people reminds me of being out on the piss on a Friday night!

Katherine Heigl is in here, first time I've seen her since Roswell, as she's lost all that puppy fat which I loved, but now looks even hotter!

It's quite amusing seeing Knoxville trying to act like he's special needs, but the stars of the show are the special needs guys who come out with some cracking one liners!

Reminds me a bit of Sex for the Retard, never gonna forget that one lol

I think I'll just watch the South Park version again. Cartman is much funnier than Johnny Knoxville.

south park was better and only lasted for 25 mins, this was teadous and crap and basically a cheap rip off with luke duke, if you have seen the south park you will probably give up when he does the expressions in the mirror. i hope matt and trey got a few dollars for the copyright. 2/10

I read that Southpark was actually a rip-off of this film. This film has been sitting around waiting to be released for quite some time.....so I read!

There has also been some controversy surrounding this episode and the movie The Ringer, as both feature the same plot: pretending to be disabled to get into the Special Olympics. The Ringer was written and filmed months before this episode was aired, although The Ringer was not disclosed to the public until after this episode aired.

In an odd coincidence, the December 20, 2001 episode of Family Guy, "Ready, Willing, and Disabled" featured the plot element of steroid abuse in the Special Olympics. However, one would think Trey Parker and Matt Stone's opinion on this would be reflected in the episode "Simpsons Already Did It", namely that most ideas have already been explored and it isn't worth worrying about if an idea has already been done.

The episode title refers to the 1964 young adult novel Up the Down Staircase, by Bel Kaufman, which was made into a 1967 movie starring Sandy Dennis.

This episode is based on an HBO Lifestories: Families in Crisis episode entitled "A Body to Die For: The Aaron Henry Story" starring none other than Ben Affleck as a steroid-abusing high school athlete who ends up beating up his girlfriend.
    South Park rules.
